My Senior

So excited to have the opportunity to share some pics from Hamza's senior portrait session. Of course, we had Samantha do his portraits, who else? She has been taking our family portraits for several years, and she never disappoints, even with a difficult subject like our son. I'm thrilled that she managed to elicit so many great smiles for Hamza, who wasn't in the best of moods at the start of the day.

As you can see, Atlas came along, a much more willing model than his human! The location was Railroad Park in Birmingham, a place that has more significance for Hamza, because he comes here to play ultimate frisbee almost every Friday after school. I love the urban views in the background.

I wasn't quite sure which of these I like better, the color, or black and white. but for sure, I love his smile!

And of course, he had to get a few in his karate gi. Karate has been a part of his life for the past 11 years.

But I think my (and Hamza's) favorite from the entire portrait session, has to be this one. I actually ordered the prints in several different sizes, to share with the grandparents too!

If you live, or are visiting the Birmingham area, and would like to have some portraits done, be sure to check out Samantha's website. If you book a session through her you won't be disappointed, I promise!

Two Oh

Goodness, can it be?! After a long drought on the blog I am actually posting for a third time in the same week! But it's for a special occasion, of course. As the candles cool off Zakir's cake, it's time to celebrate another birthday. Our sweet, crazy, girl Safa leaves the teenage years behind her today. Another step towards 'real' adulthood! We are so blessed to have her as our daughter, she is beautiful in more ways than one.

Here is one photograph from our recent trip to Universal Studios Florida (the trip that I promised to share photos from a while back). But this is Safa's special day, so I am only going to share this one, the one that reflects her personality perfectly.

Yep, that's our girl!

Happy birthday, Safa. We love you!

Happy Birthday Zakir!

____ years old today! Gone are the days when we used to celebrate every year by announcing our age. But here is someone who is young at heart, and hopefully will always remain so.

Many happy returns of the day to my hubby, and dad to our three babies. I hope you enjoyed your day... and the cake! We all love you very much!

This little critter...

...has moved back to Auburn to be with her human. After spending a couple of months with us, she has finally gone home. It's oddly quiet in the house without her; it's amazing how much personality is packed into this little 1 pound ball of fur. I'm glad that Safa has her baby back, but we're all going to miss Lola Bug!

And the reason that she was finally able to go with Safa is that we have taken possession of the condo we bought in Auburn, and she was able to move in on Friday. We are in the process of furnishing it, piece by piece, and have a trip to Ikea scheduled to pick up some more essentials. Hamza has paid his commitment fee to Auburn too, so the siblings will be living together in the fall. I think they are working on some kind of arrangement where Hamza will cook and Safa will clean. Sounds like a good plan to me!
