I survived the zoo...

.... with a bunch of kindergarteners.

Actually, I was only directly responsible for watching Bilal and one of his little friends, but it was crazy at the zoo! So many school buses from so many schools and preschools! It was very crowded, but the weather was perfect.

Here are a few from our day:

They watched the swans swimming in the pond

And a gorilla taking a nap

They watched the sea lions being fed

and the new exhibit, Granny's Butterfly House.

Besides seeing the animal exhibits there was time to climb a termite mound

and play some drums.

Ride the little zoo train

and even the carousel

All in all a fun day!

There was a little hiccup when one of Bilal's classmates fell into some shallow water while standing on a ledge to have the class picture taken. He was soaked from the neck down. We couldn't let him stay in a wet shirt, so I ran by the gift shop to buy him a new t-shirt. He had to let his shorts and shoes dry off, since the gift shop evidently doesn't service all needs. But the rest of the day was uneventful, and I now have even more respect for Bilal's kindergarten teacher, Mrs. B. She watches these 18 energetic kids all day, every weekday!
