The Park

So it's been quite a busy weekend. Friday night was the fireworks show, Saturday evening we were at a pool party and Sunday we grilled out at the park. Sunday has to be the most eventful. We took our little portable grill to the Leeds Park on a hot summer afternoon, with scattered showers in the forecast. I had the covered pavilion rented from 4-8pm.
The kids had a fun time playing on the swings and slides, and we met up with four other families, all with young kids. We grilled hamburgers, ate chips and salsa, grilled chicken and homemade peach ice cream, which was the consistency of milkshake by the time we got to eat it, but still yummy.

Unfortunately the picnic was cut short for one of the families when their baby girl fell and cut her nose, requiring a trip to the ER at Children's Hospital for stitches, poor baby!

My little daredevil going down the big slide, no sweat!

Mehreen and I waiting for the rain to quit. At least we had shelter!

Then the rain came. It didn't just rain, it poured. We wrapped up our picnic, cleaned up and waited for a break in the showers. By then it was 7:30 and we had finished grilling and eating anyway, so no big deal. On the way home by the time we reached the interstate visibility was very poor, and by the time we hit home we were in the midst of a severe thunderstorm. A few minutes after we arrived home we lost power, ugh! Where are the matches and flashlights when you need them? Well, we managed to illuminate the house, and fortunately got power back within the hour. Later we learned that the worst of the storm was actually in Leeds; we were so glad we got out in good time!

Wow, that is quite an eventful day! I'm glad you had fun while it lasted. Parks are always so much fun for everyone. I hope you have had a day or two to relax since then!! xoxo
